I put in 2.5 weeks of about 10 hours a day of just hardcore studying. Well that’s the summary of what I’ve been doing! The school gave us 3 weeks to study for it but I took one week off after the semester to visit my grandma in Texas because frankly, being in this field it’s a marathon and marathon runners drink water too don’t they? So I took my water break and decided to visit Texas! When I came home the studying began. The test is ONLY 4 hours long but it sure does go by quick! It stinks that we have to pass the exam before we can take the step 1 but, at the same time it allows to be sure that we are ready for the big leagues so that we can get a good score on our step 1 exam which will make us competitive for residency! The study material for the exam was the same as what I will need to study for the big girl exam. It’s been a while since my last update but….other than the fact I needed a break from life, study off the grid, and to reevaluate my life plan as I do very often these days.….I DO HAVE GOOD NEWS! I PASSED MY EXAM! Since I went to medical school on a Caribbean Island, before I am eligible to take the USMLE STEP 1 exam, I have to pass an exam called the comprehensive basic sciences exam (CBSE, NBME, COMP) which is essentially an exam that is half as long as the 8 hour Step 1 exam.
